Some years ago, I bought a small lot of historical SWL cards from England.
All cards were sent to an English radio station, such a F.N.U, Leslie Leach, but I haven’t been able to identify that yet.
One of those cards, especially, captured my attention and curiosity, so I started to make some research in the WWW. Here is what I found out …..
The card was sent by W8RSE, and I noticed is the date of listening : 27 March 1939. At that time the author of the card was 23 years old.
Second point, our friend OM was probably located in Michigan, in the city of Pontiac. This name for sure recall us a famous brand of USA cars. But, more importantly, we can notice the letters “CCC”.
What do they mean ? “CCC” stands for Civilian Conservation Corps, those special corps instituted by the New Deal program, a sort of “Protezione Civile” we have in Italy.

The OM who wrote the card
The OM name, that appears on the SWL card, is Charles A. Dudzik.
Again, a new search in the WWW produced an interesting result: a copy from a local county US newspaper tells us that Charles Adam Dudzik was born in October 16, 1915 , and that he died in September 2001.
The date of birth is in agreement with the” age 23″, written in the card.
In the below picture, there is the obituary for Charles:
OK, he is our friend! Now, notice the row where is writen that
“…he served as radio operator under the command of General Earhart, father of Amelia Earhart.”
Who was General Earhart?
Really seems that Amelia's father was not at all a General, and this seems a mistake in C.A. Dudzik obituary....Who was his daughter, Amelia Earhart?

I haven't found any information about the General Earhart, (but you can find a lot about the very fascinating story of his daughter, Amelia Earhart.......

Amelia Mary Earhart was born in 1897 in Atchison, Kansas, to an alcoholic father (?? my remark) and an independent mother. Because of her father’s problems, Earhart spent much of her childhood with her maternal grandparents. She was a tomboy who enjoyed wild sled rides, climbing trees and hunting farmyard rats. As a young woman, she volunteered as a nurse’s aide and taught poor Syrian immigrant children.

I have found no information about the "General Earhart", but I found a very fascinating story about his daughter, Amelia Earhart.......

For privacy reasons, I have covered some lines written in the card.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information about F.N.U. or Francis Leslie Leach, yet.
If some of you have any information, or knows about that F.N.U. radio, I could complete this interesting story.
